Message I believe suspension, handling and styling have a lot to do with it as well. You can't judge a car by it's ass warmers or the fact it has rear defrost, I've seen cars loaded down with crap and still carry sport car names. True, this may have been the only model that dealer may have offered without even having a GT available but in some cases the first is true. I agree with (dare I say it) classic car & driver folks that agree that most sports cars have a but load of luxuries and still carry the "sports car" name. I think the term has gotten a wider description base and not be used too strictly. It's like saying that Richard Simmons is a little gay. It's a catch 22. You have to realize, money destroys names and heratige that were etched in stone so many years ago. Every car company is guilty of slapping a name on something to give it an exact characteristic unique of itself.... then 10 years later they change the whole crap around. That is why Nissan is such a great company, at times, they hold true (as they can be while still turning a dollar) to their images they set so many year ago. But, I have to say the Z is a sports car regardless of the fact that it's comfortable. It wasn't their fault it's comfortable.
